The UAE's heat, dust and humidity are tough on machinery. Regular maintenance keeps a diesel generator reliable, efficient and ready when you need it. Here's a practical generator maintenance checklist for UAE conditions.
Daily / weekly checks
- Check oil and coolant levels
- Look for fuel, oil and coolant leaks
- Check fuel level and quality
- Inspect the air filter — dust clogs it fast in the UAE
- Run the set briefly under load
Monthly checks
- Test the battery and terminals
- Inspect belts and hoses
- Check control-panel readings and alarms
- Clean the radiator and enclosure vents
Every 250–500 hours (or per manual)
- Change engine oil and oil filter
- Replace fuel and air filters
- Check coolant condition
Why the UAE climate matters
High ambient temperatures reduce output and stress cooling systems, while fine dust clogs filters and radiators. More frequent filter changes and cleaning are essential here.
Don't forget load testing
Standby sets should be load-bank tested to prevent wet-stacking. A poorly maintained set is the number-one cause of failure during an outage.
